After a lengthy hiatus, Angelrage has returned with a new single, “On Broken Wings,” accompanied by their music video debut, following a girl tormented by harrowing nightmares of Earth being destroyed in a series of freak natural disasters caused by a mysterious celestial object. In addition to the music video for the single, the band has released several behind the scenes clips on their official YouTube channel. On Broken Wings is the first new release since the 2009 Omega CD and the first of 12 songs being released one at a time under the album title Heresy. Each song will be accompanied by behind the scenes video and extras, including the long-teased Full Disclosure video, documenting the band’s history as told by friends and fans and featuring interviews with the original lineup and rare archival live footage.
Angelrage first surfaced in 2003 with the viral internet sensation Fight the Devil, a 4 track demo which infamously clawed it’s way up the charts at the then-thriving mp3.com over current singles by well-known artists like Michael Sweet and King’s X. The band’s sound was initially described as “brutal and beautiful” (Rock City News January 9, 2003) and the group is perhaps best known for the controversy it inspires; metaljet.com editor Rick Fox recalls, “While making the list for The War, I visited both Christian and Black Metal link lists. Angelrage was listed on both types of sites and I had them listed on both sides of my page!”
Heresy sees the band venturing deeper into the progressive metalcore sound hinted at on 2009’s Omega CD, with guitarist Garland Triest covering lead vocals with a new confidence born of appearances as a voiceover artist in films including As Above So Below, Krampus, and Ghostbusters (2016). On Broken Wings is available online through iTunes, Spotify, Amazon Music, iHeart Radio, and Google Play.
